Clarke secures win with TaylorMade R11 driver

Darren Clarke took advantage of a final-round collapse from Englishman Chris Wood at the Iberdrola Open to claim his first Tour title since 2008.

TaylorMade staffer Clarke, last year's Ryder Cup vice-captain, fired a one-under-par 69 in Mallorca on Sunday to win by three shots from Wood, who could only manage a 76.

The Northern Irishman was using TaylorMade's much-talked-about new Taylormade R11 driver, as well as TaylorMade's TP MB irons which performed admirably in our recent test.

Clarke was looking good at the turn on Sunday, with a solitary birdie and eight pars giving him a six-under-par total.

But he found water on the 11th to drop back to four-under, before birdies on the 14th and 15th saw him climb the leaderboard.

In addition to the driver and irons, Clarke was also using three xFT wedges and the world's first five-piece golf ball in the PENTA TP.

Discount Golf

Discount golf is the only way for some to play the game. Golf may be the most expensive sport a person can play. The very cost of it makes it an exclusive sport usually available only to the financially privileged. Not only is it expensive upfront, it also requires considerable ongoing expense

A golfer requires a lot more gear to get started than most other sports. And golf gear is expensive. Smart golfers often look for discount golf equipment, golf packages, even discount golf vacations.

Stores that sell discount golf equipment aren't necessarily selling used items. There are plenty of discount outlets selling overstock, last-years inventory and clearance merchandise - all at rock bottom discount golf prices. The point is most of the items are brand new and never used. They just cost less.

Save big money without sacrificing any quality or more importantly, any performance. There are basically two different places to look for discount golf. You should shop both for the best deal before making you buying decisions.

Some discount golf stores only offer their items for sale on the Internet. These dealers save money on overhead by not having a retail location to support. Plus they can reach a larger market and do a larger volume of business so their costs are reduced. Most internet discount Callaway Razr X Tour Irons outlets offer a wide range of high-quality name-brand golf gear.

A few large discount golf outlets do have storefronts. The buying power of these discount golf chains allows them to sell high quality goods at very low prices. The advantage of these chain operations is you can go to the store and swing the club before you pay for it.

As with any purchase, it isn't a deal if you don't actually need it. Make sure you need what you purchase and focus on those brand names you know and trust. Shop around and if possible go to a discount store and try out the TaylorMade R11 Driver you want to buy. Even if you buy it for a lower price online you can get a feel for it at a discount golf store first.
